EFFECTIVE IN 2002,
A SAFE BOATER EDUCATION CERTIFICATE
IS REQUIRED FOR ALL BOATERS
BORN ON OR AFTER JANUARY 1, 1983.

New Hampshire law requires that everyone pass a proctored, in-person exam
in order to apply for the required New Hampshire Safe Boater Education Certificate
issued by the New Hampshire Department of Safety.
Once you have obtained your New Hampshire Safe Boater Education Certificate,
you have fulfilled the requirements of the law.
There is no legal obligation to take a boating safety course again.
It is a once-in-a-lifetime requirement.

A Safe Boater Education Certificate can be obtained
by successfully completing a boating safety course or equivalency exam
approved by the New Hampshire Marine Patrol
or a National Association of State Boating Law Administrators approved course from another state.

There are three ways by which you may complete an approved boating safety course:

1) In a classroom...
Experience the learning with other boaters and a qualified instructor.
Contact the New Hampshire Department of Safety's Marine Patrol to determine the next classroom course being offered in your area.
Call 1-877-642-9700 or (603) 293-2037
